therefore all that an artist can draw is their perception of something




in drawing something, you create something of matter (an object) thus, something that can be further perceived by another. (So what meaning is there to art, because you can never make someone fully perceive something as you do through it... only make someone perceive what they want of it)


..I've been looking for the meaning to being an artist... (except for enjoying it and being passionately obsessed with it. and i don't even know why. i just am)... but what bigger meaning is there to being an artist? ..and why is it so obsessive? if there is little or no meaning to it?

Hmm... I think the meaning of being an artist is to show the world how you percieve things. Like you said, everyone has their own way of seeing things, so it's our job to give others a new way to see things, show them how to percieve things they couldn't imagine, even if they don't completely understand it. I guess like spreading open-mindness. :nod:

Ever heard of the trechery of images? A french artist did a painting of a pipe and underneath it wrote "This is not a pipe." and it wasn't a pipe. it was a painting of a pipe. It is some thing that a lot of people forget about art. mmm... interesting.

Well, it isn't. There's concept and theory that goes behind it too. Though asthetics will probably make you more popular.
